Happy International Women’s Day

Happy (almost) International Women’s Day!  Paved by the brave, outspoken, and courageous, this day honors women worldwide…and we’re not skipping out on honoring our own!  The many women that make up Mercedes-Benz of Ontario are diverse within their own right, as they come from places near and far and work in various disciplines.  These dedicated women are rocking the auto industry and we couldn’t be more proud to work with them.  Part of our notable female staff is Laycee Blount, who works as a Pre-Owned Assistant and is a member of our First Impressions team.  We had the opportunity to ask her a few questions in celebration of her career and female empowerment. Check out her answers below:

MBO: What have you done professionally here that you succeeded at and were proud of?

LB: I believe that as a professional, I have impacted and made positive changes to the organization and efficiency of my department.

MBO: How do you seek to improve your Mercedes-Benz expertise?

LB: I do not pretend to know or understand anything that I truly do not, so a lot of times, I am searching for further understanding in regards to technical questions, for which I use YouTube videos or Google! I recently attended Brand Immersion in Alabama, so I have a whole new area of interest, which are AMG® vehicles. I recently learned that this stands for Aufrecht and Melcher, which are the last names of the gentlemen who made the first Mercedes racing engine, and Grobaspach, which is the name of their hometown.

MBO: How do you feel you set examples to females around you who might be interested in holding your same position one day?

LB: I always try to be genuinely myself, and also, to be 100% professional at the same time. I believe that this standard is something that any professional young woman should aspire towards.

MBO: What does women empowerment mean to you?

LB: I believe that empowerment for a woman means always trusting in, and being true to, yourself. I think you consistently have to remind yourself in this world of ever-changing ideals that you are always ENOUGH. Never substitute money or favor for your core values.

MBO: What values would you consider important and essential for all women?

LB: I believe that being honest, trustworthy, and hardworking are three traits that will get you exactly where you need to be.

MBO: What is the best advice you can give to our young girls and teens who want to pursue careers that tend to have a smaller female population?

LB: The best advice I can give you is to respect every person you meet, regardless of their position or authority. If you are positioned right, you can learn something from everyone you encounter, regardless of whether the lesson is positive, or negative. Stay humble, be genuine, and work hard.
