High-End Interior Features
The cabins of both the GLA 250 and BMW X1 are comfortably crafted with standard features that include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, front power memory seats, and more. However, the 2019 GLA 250 offers several features that are not available on the X1. These features include:
- Front-seat power lumbar support
- 8-speaker audio system
- Removable hard cargo cover
- Vehicle Location System
Fuel Efficiency
When comparing the GLA vs. X1, the new GLA is also a winner when it comes to fuel economy. Both the GLA 250 and X1 come equipped with 2.0L turbo inline-4 engines; however, the 2019 GLA gets 24 mpg city/33 mpg highway while the X1 gets 23 mpg city/32 mpg highway. The GLA’s superior fuel efficiency can be partly thanked to standard ECO-START®. Mercedes-Benz ECO-START® technology saves fuel by shutting off the engine when your vehicle is idling. Although the X1 comes equipped with its own Auto Start-Stop technology, the BMW X1 mpg numbers still don’t match up to those of the GLA.
Advanced Safety Features
The BMW X1 and GLA both offer safety features such as rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, and a rearview camera. The GLA 250, however, offers additional features that aren’t available on the X1, giving Chino drivers greater peace of mind. Features that are standard on the GLA 250 but not on the X1 include:
- Rear fog lights
- ATTENTION ASSIST®
- Front Airbag Deactivation via Child Seat Detection System
- Optional second-row side airbag
